Olúṣeun Onígbindé, BudgIT Co-founder, has expressed his displeasure with the decision of the Nigerian National Assembly to change the National Anthem of the country.
Onígbindé wrote on his known X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday:
“Without any form of consultation or leaning into popular demand, that’s how a national anthem that stood for over 50 years was expunged.
“Nigerians, stop playing games with your leadership choices.
“The entire discussion didn’t last more than 3 hours with less than 50% of NASS members in attendance.
“There are national monuments that should be protected from such rash decisions.
“Premier League has a rule that protects club honours, trophies and memorabilia. This is to avoid a case of a billionaire carting away the trophy cabinet of a club. That’s how we haphazardly name public buildings without reflections.”
