The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Abeokuta Muslim Alumni has congratulated Architect (Dr.) Adekoyejo Babatunde Jolaoso on his appointment as the new rector of the institution.
MAPAMA’s message was contained in a press statement, signed by the head of its Media and Publicity Committee, Tajudeen Balogun, on Wednesday.
The statement, which was signed on behalf of the Association’s National President, Prince Taofeek Oyeniyi, stated that the appointment, which was made public after rigorous screening, did not come to the body as a surprise, given Dr. Jolaoso’s pedigree of focus, versatility, brilliance, diligence, and productivity.
MAPAMA maintained that, given his impressive academic credentials and wide experience, it looks forward to a positive revolution and new dawn in the school in the areas of monumental academic, infrastructural, transformation, and development.
To this end, the MAPAMA President, on behalf of its members, at home and in the diaspora, wishes Dr. Jolaoso and his administrative team a resounding success and a prosperous and peaceful tenure in the office.
Dr. Jolaoso, after his appointment by the MAPOLY Governing Council was approved by Governor Dapo Abiodun, has been presented with his letter of appointment.
The new rector, a member of MAPAMA, after his secondary school education at Egba Comprehensive High School, Asero, Abeokuta, proceeded to Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta, where he obtained a National Diploma (1985) and Higher National Diploma (1988) in Architecture.
Similarly, he attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree (1988) as well as a master’s degree (1994) at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, where he bagged a Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture (2018).
He joined the services of the Polytechnic in September 1994 as Lecturer III and rose to become Chief Lecturer. He once served as the director of the School of Environmental Studies at MAPOLY.
He was appointed as the head of the Architecture Department (April 2002 to June 2006).
To his credit, Dr. Jolaoso has over 70 academic publications (national and international). He efficiently combines academics with professional practice, as well as community services.
The new MAPOLY Rector is a member of the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Institute of Architecture; Architect’s Reg. Council of Nigeria (ARCON) (appointed member of the accreditation team).
He is also an ARCON-appointed external juror for architecture programmes of the universities, including Covenant University, Ota; Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; and Federal University of Technology, Akure, among others.
