Handling the dicey task of parenting was the focus of a parenting seminar at MIMS Educational Resources Limited, Lagos.
The seminar with the theme: “Parental Roles in Child Psychology and Development” was attended by key education stakeholders in November.
A seasoned counsellor, Mrs Fatimah Jaji, diagnosed the topic: ‘The home, Economic and Environmental effect of Child Psychology and development in the 21st century’.
In his speech, MIMS board chairman, Adesegun Ogungbayi, stressed the need to ensure proper monitoring and mentorship of young ones towards academic excellence devoid of immorality at all times.
His words:
“There are limitations to our roles on your children after graduation from MIMS, the rest are yours except those who beckon at us for continued mentorship. The percentage of parents doing that till date is not appreciable compared to number of pupils graduating annually.
“The school has produced world-class achievers who are professionals in their various chosen fields of endeavour across the world. Some of our latest products from MIMS Nursery and Primary School, Shomolu annexe, are at first-class in federal Universities, state universities, and across the world now. Apart from that, they are equally making great marks spiritually globally. These are good and great as MIMS strive towards clocking 30 years of academic greatness next year and as we expect more of such graduates annually. Our organization policy shall ensure no student is left behind in our quest for academic excellence and to build all-round students who can conquer the world and write family names on the world map.”
In the same vein, Akintunde Haruna Kehinde, the Executive Chairman of the school’s Parents’ Teachers Association (PTA), appreciated the effort of the institution’s management.
